Flight training hours tracker
A practical guide to recording flight-training sessions, reviewing consistency and tracking personal progress toward pilot milestones.
Record every training session consistently
For each session, capture the date, aircraft, type of flight, duration and a concise lesson note. Example: “1.2 hours — dual instruction — traffic pattern practice.”
Look beyond the total hours
A growing hour count is useful, but it is not a measure of readiness by itself. Note what you practiced, what went well and what you want to revisit with your instructor.
Spot gaps in your schedule
Compare weeks with active training and weeks interrupted by weather, aircraft availability or other obligations. Review this pattern before adjusting target dates or budgets.
Celebrate milestones carefully
A first lesson, first solo, written-exam pass or earned certificate can be a meaningful personal milestone. Only record a milestone as achieved when it really happened; a goal or estimate is not an accomplishment.
